ALL-NEW CAMARO EXEMPLIFIES CHEVROLET'S 2010 LINEUP OF GREAT LOOKING, EFFICIENT CARS

After a seven-year hiatus, the new Chevrolet Camaro is back - and better than ever. It's advanced 3.6L, direct-injected V-6 delivers performance and efficiency, with 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 6.8 L/100 km in highway driving.

The Camaro's combination of efficient performance blends with dramatic, heritage-inspired design and great refinement in a distinctive package that exemplifies Chevrolet's commitment to great looking, fuel-efficient cars for all customers.

For those lured by the intoxication of small-block V-8 power, the performance-oriented Camaro SS offers a pair of 6.2L V-8s - including one with Active Fuel Management that helps lower fuel consumption by shutting down four cylinders during certain light-load driving conditions. That model delivers 7.9 L/100 km in highway fuel consumption. All Camaro models are backed by fuel-saving six-speed transmissions.

An RS appearance package is available on LT and SS. It includes HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, a rear spoiler on LT, specific taillamps and 20-inch wheels with a Midnight Silver finish. Like the exterior, the Camaro's four-passenger cabin blends contemporary features and heritage design, well-executed with details that convey simplicity and refinement. An available ambient light package, for example, offers advanced LED light pipe technology, giving the interior a distinctive glow.

Below is a look at the rest of Chevy's car lineup for 2010.

Aveo

The fuel-efficient Chevrolet Aveo receives powertrain revisions for 2010 that enhance its efficient fuel consumption . Automatic-equipped Aveo models are rated at 8.2 L/100 km in the city, while transmission gearing changes to the manual-transmission models enable lower highway fuel consumption.

The Aveo lineup also includes a contemporary looking sedan and the Aveo5, a sporty five-door hatchback. All models benefit in 2010 from a slight increase in horsepower; and a new exterior colour is available, while available features such as OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, the GM Oil Life Monitoring system and standard 15-inch wheels return.

Cobalt

Chevrolet Cobalt returns for 2010, with an efficient lineup of XFE, LS, LT and turbocharged SS models. The XFE is rated at 5.4 L/100 km on the highway; the LS and LT models are rated at 5.8 L/100 km on the highway and the high-performance Cobalt SS delivers 6.6 L/100 km on the highway. The Cobalt SS is powered by a sophisticated 2.0L turbocharged and intercooled Ecotec engine that uses direct injection technology to deliver its balance of performance and fuel efficiency.

There are few changes for the Cobalt lineup for 2010, including exterior and interior colour revisions. What hasn't changed, however, is its customer-focused package of choices, convenience and safety features that many other competitors can't match - including Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity and an iPod-compatible USB port in the radio.

Corvette

Sports car enthusiasts have a veritable smorgasbord of choices in the Corvette lineup for 2010, including the all-new Grand Sport model. New and revised features across the board include a return of Torch Red to the exterior colour choices, available crossed flags embroidery on the seats, new interior trim patterns and side airbags now standard on all models.

Here's a quick look at all the Corvette models:

  • Corvette coupe and convertible: The standard LS3 6.2L engine is paired with six-speed manual or six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmissions; launch control is now standard on manual-equipped models, while revisions to the paddle shift control enable an easier return to the automatic mode on the six-speed automatic. Also, convertible models receive the tall rear spoiler from the Z06.

  • Corvette Grand Sport: Replacing the previous Z51 package, the new Grand Sport brings a greater degree of handling performance, with wider wheels and tires; wider fenders; distinctive exterior styling cues; revised shock, stabilizer bar and spring specifications; and specific gearing. Grand Sport coupe models equipped with the manual transmission are uniquely outfitted for race track competition too, with a dry-sump oiling system, differential cooler and a rear-mounted battery.

  • Corvette Z06: With racing-inspired powertrain and suspension features, the Corvette Z06 delivers exceptional levels of capability and technology, making it one of the best performance values on the market. It has an aluminum frame, with carbon fibre fenders and door panels, making it the lightest Corvette model available. It's 7.0L LS7 engine is rated at 505 horsepower (377 kW). For 2010, the Z06 3LZ package includes power sport seats, including a power-adjustable passenger seat.

  • Corvette ZR1: The ZR1 returns for 2010 with new Performance Traction Management (PTM) technology. It is an advanced system that is part of a new Launch Control feature that optimizes traction for greater and more consistent on-track performance. The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 6.2L engine that is hand-assembled at GM's Performance Build Centre. It is rated at 638 horsepower (476 kW), making it the most powerful production car ever offered by Chevrolet and GM.

Impala

Impala continues as one of the segment's best values. That value is supported by features such as 3.5L V-6 that offers 6.7 L/100 km in highway fuel efficiency, as well as a safety package that includes thorax side-impact air bags. Available features include Bluetooth phone connectivity through the OnStar system. New for 2010 is a trio of contemporary exterior colours.

Malibu

Racking up countless accolades and recommendations since being named the North American Car of the Year in 2008, the Chevy Malibu continues to offer great efficiency packaged in a signature design. Models equipped with the 2.4L engine/six-speed automatic combination are rated at 5.9 L/100 km on the highway.

Changes for 2010 include three new exterior colours and the replacement of the driver's manual lumbar control with a new, power-adjustable control. Also, 17-inch chrome-clad wheels are standard on 2LT models; the 2.4L engine is E85-capable and the six-speed automatic transmission is now standard on 1LT models.

ALL-NEW EQUINOX CROSSOVER HIGHLIGHTS A MORE-EFFICIENT 2010 CHEVY TRUCK LINEUP

Chevrolet's all-new, 2010 Equinox blends distinctive design with outstanding efficiency - attributes shared with the rest of the brand's lineup of trucks and utility vehicles.

A new, 2.4L direct injection engine helps the Equinox deliver best-in-segment highway fuel consumption of 6.1 L/100 km.

The new Equinox draws its exterior design inspiration from the Chevrolet Malibu sedan and Traverse crossover; and like those vehicles, the new Equinox complements its styling with attention to detail and unexpected features. It is available in LS, LT and LTZ trim, with available all-wheel-drive. Both the new, 2.4L engine and an available 3.0L V-6 feature fuel-saving direct injection and variable valve timing technology, as well as fuel-saving six-speed transmissions.

For maximum versatility, the new Equinox retains its MultiFlex rear seat design, allowing the seat to be moved fore or aft nearly 203 mm (eight inches), for the best rear legroom in its class. With the 60/40-split-back rear seat moved all the way forward, the cargo area offers 889 litres (31.4 cubic feet) of storage.

Below is a rundown of the rest of the 2010 Chevy truck lineup.

Avalanche

Avalanche's unique design enables it to function as an SUV, truck or both, thanks to the exclusive Midgate. It opens to extend the cargo-carrying capability from the cargo bed's 1.6 metre (5-foot-3-inch-long) length to 2.5 metre (8 feet 2 inches). The rear seat must be folded to achieve maximum storage capability; with the rear seat up and the Midgate closed, Avalanche has room for up to six passengers.

A pair of new exterior colours is offered in 2010, while all of Avalanche's radios receive a USB port. Revisions have been made to the LT package and a single-speed transfer case is now standard on 4WD models (a two-speed transfer case is optional). Features including Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, a rear camera system and side blind zone detection and head curtain side air bags highlight its standard and available technologies.

Colorado

For 2010, head curtain side air bags are now standard on all models and three new exterior colours are offered. Returning for the new model year is the brake system that was enhanced in '09 and features four-channel ABS with yaw control for flatter, more controlled stopping during panic stops and improved control on slippery surfaces. The performance-bred ZQ8 sport package also returns.

HHR

Chevrolet's distinctive HHR is a stylish blend of form, function and frugality. Powered by a range of efficient Ecotec engines, the HHR offers 6.1 L/100 km in highway driving while delivering the technology, safety and convenience features customers want. That lineup also includes the unmatched HHR SS, which features a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0L engine that gives this unique model the capability of running from 0 to 96 km in 6.3 seconds and returning 6.8 L/100 km on the highway.

For 2010, HHR changes are limited to a trio of new exterior colours and, later in the model year, the introduction of a rear-view camera system. Also returning for 2010 is the HHR Panel - a work/delivery vehicle that comes with the HHR's efficient powertrain and windowless side panels that form a blank canvas for creative business graphics or logos.

Silverado 1500

Recognized as an industry leader in fuel economy, dependability and performance, the wide range of Chevy Silverado 1500 models include everything from jobsite-ready Work Truck models to the luxuriously appointed LTZ crew cab.

For 2010, the Silverado 1500's range of 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.2L V-8 engines offer E85 capability, while the 4.8L and 5.3L engines now feature variable valve timing. A six-speed automatic transmission is added to regular and extended cab models with the 5.3L V-8 (previously it was offered only on crew cab models); and all 5.3L-equipped models feature a standard 3.08 axle ratio that enhances fuel economy.

Additional changes for 2010 include side curtain airbags and seat-mounted side airbags made standard on all models; a USB port included on all but base radios; expanded availability of the rear-view camera system; and two new exterior colours.

Silverado Hybrid

The 2010 Silverado Hybrid continues as a powerful full-size pickup that achieves 32-percent improvement in city fuel consumption and a 23-percent improvement in overall fuel consumption - all while delivering the capability expected of a full-size truck, including a 2,767 kg (6,100-pound) towing capacity. It is offered in the crew cab body style on both 2WD and 4WD models.

Partnering General Motors' patented two-mode hybrid system and a powerful 6.0L V-8, the Silverado Hybrid delivers highly efficient performance, including all-electric driving up to 48 km/h (30 mph). That allows fuel savings to be realized even when the truck is fully loaded or towing a trailer. FlexFuel capability is new for the 6.0L V-8 engine in 2010.

Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD

Chevrolet Silverado heavy-duty models are ready for any task, whether work or leisure. They are offered in a range of 2500HD (three-quarter-ton) and 3500HD (one-ton) models; and are available in WT, LT and LTZ trim. A wide range of configurations - three cab styles, three cargo box styles and five wheelbase lengths - delivers tremendous choice.

The Silverado HD pickups also offer many segment-best capabilities, including 8,392 kg (18,500-pound) gross combined vehicle weight rating for vehicles with a gas V-8 and a 5,897 kg (13,000-pound) conventional trailer weight rating enabled by a larger-capacity trailer hitch platform. Maximum towing capacity is 7,575 kg (16,700 pounds), when equipped with a fifth-wheel hitch.

Changes for 2010 are minor and include a pair of new exterior colours and the inclusion of a USB port on all but the base radio.

Suburban

For decades, the unique Chevrolet Suburban has been the benchmark of full-size SUVs. It is spacious, capable and more efficient than ever. The Suburban lineup is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, with 2WD and 4WD, as well as a 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 series.

New for 2010 is a 6.0L V-8 with variable valve timing and FlexFuel capability in 2500 models, as well as a pair of new exterior colours and USB ports for all of Suburban's radios. Revisions have also been made to several interior and trim packages, streamlining the availability of popular features such as remote vehicle start, adjustable pedals and ultrasonic rear parking assist.

Tahoe

Chevrolet Tahoe offers great spaciousness and towing capability, with the segment's best fuel economy. That includes a 9.3 L/100 km on the highway and 14.3 L/100 km in the city in the Tahoe XFE model that was introduced during the '09 model year.

For 2010, new features include a pair of exterior colours; variable valve timing and E85 capability on the 5.3L engine; USB ports on the range of radios and a change to a single-speed transfer case on 4WD models (a two-speed transfer case is optional). Revisions to exterior and interior packages are also implemented for 2010.

Tahoe Hybrid

The Chevy Tahoe Hybrid delivers up to 34-percent improvement in city fuel consumption compared with non-hybrid models, while delivering all of the comfort and capability customers expect in a full-size SUV. The vastly improved fuel economy is due largely to a state-of-the-art hybrid system using GM's Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT).

An industry first for any full-size SUV, the patented hybrid system allows these vehicles to return exceptional fuel economy in both city and highway driving while still delivering full-size SUV performance. The Tahoe Hybrid can tow up to 2,818 kg (6,200 pounds) of towing capacity (2WD) and offers standard eight-passenger seating capacity.

Traverse

The Chevy Traverse is an expressively styled, well-equipped crossover that gives customers people-hauling and cargo-carrying capability typically found in larger SUVs. It is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Efficient performance comes from a 3.6L V-6 with direct injection that helps produce power similar to many V-8 engines and uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Traverse is rated at 288 horsepower (215 kW) and 270 lb.-ft. of torque (366 Nm) with dual exhaust (281 hp/210 kW and 266 lb.-ft./361 Nm with single exhaust), but delivers better-than-expected fuel economy of 8.4 L/100 km on the highway.
